Here’s The Very First Screenshot From The New Assassin’s Creed Game, Origins
Boats are *back*!
It might not be the super polished screenshot Ubisoft wanted us to see first, but thanks to an anonymous tipster and the wonders of the internet, we’ve finally laid eyes on the next Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
Yup, that’s right - Origins. There’d been talk that the next instalment would be called Empire, but according to recent rumours and confirmation from Eurogamer sources, it very much seems that the next game has been renamed, although it will indeed take place in Egypt as previously reported.
The single screenshot, which popped up on Reddit, shows the player on a boat (yay! More boats!), with on-screen prompts instructing them that the next task involves assassinating a crocodile, although whether that means you need to take out a pesky reptile or a person called Crocodile remains a mystery.
Other on-screen text points players towards Khenut’s villa, which you can find by following someone, or something, called Shadya. Interestingly enough, it turns out Khenut was a real Egyptian queen in the fifth dynasty of Egypt, who was married to King Unas and thought to have been mother to Queen Iput I. So whatever fictional basis Ubisoft has crafted, it seems at least some of the story will be rooted in historical fact.
Assassin’s Creed: Empire is expected to release on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox One, although we’re not yet quite sure when… although it’s reasonable to assume it’ll be some time in late 2017.
