The James Cameron movie topps the illegal downloading charts
Avatar was the most pirated film of 2010, according to new data released by filesharing blog TorrentFreak.com.
Avatar still took nearly $2.8billion (£1.8billion) at the worldwide box office and remains the highest-grossing movie ever – but despite Director James Cameron stating that 3D film-making is the film industry's best hope for combating piracy, the film topped the illegal downloading chart with a massive 16.58 million downloads.
Second on the list was Kick-Ass, with 11.4million downloads, followed by Inception with 9.7million.
