Avelino Demonstrates His Lyrical Prowess On Superb New EP ‘FYO’
Entitled ‘F.Y.O’, which stands for ‘F*ck Your Opinions’, the project is full of powerful and hypnotically addictive tracks
Fresh off the back of partnering with everyone’s favourite wordsmith Wretch 32 on their epic project ‘Young Fire, Old Flame’, Avelino has returned with his debut EP and to say that it’s an undoubted triumph is an understatement.
Entitled ‘F.Y.O’, which stands for ‘F*ck Your Opinions’, the project is full of powerful and hypnotically addictive tracks that showcase just how far Avelino has come as an artist over the last couple of years. It’s easy to see why Wretch is such an advocate of his fellow North Londoner as he graces each unique beat that’s put in front of him with a style and finesse that is ridiculously impressive when you take into consideration that this is his debut EP.
Each track offers a completely different vibe which in many cases would make an EP feel disjointed, but ‘F.Y.O’ flows beautifully from start to finish and leaves you wanting more after every listen. Whilst the project is scintillating throughout, an unexpected but superb feature from MC Neat is a captivating addition, with the title track also providing a standout moment showcasing Avelino’s deep, thought provoking bars over an extraordinary beat, full of bass, coarse electronic riffs and a Super Nintendo melody that wouldn’t sound out of place in any of the console’s classic games.
As one of the most exciting talents coming out of the UK right now, Avelino has made a remarkable start to his career and this EP is undoubtedly just the tip of the iceberg. You can stream ‘F.Y.O’ below and download the project for free via Avelino’s Soundcloud here.
