Captain Marvel Was Cut From Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige explains why...

Stand down, fangirls/boys – if you were hoping to catch your first glimpse of 'Captain Marvel' in the next 'Avengers' film, then you may be disappointed.

Marvel chief Kevin Feige has told MTV News that the female badass won’t be making her debut next month… But that wasn’t always the case.

With Marvel, you never quite know what surprises they’re going to throw your way (it’s pretty much half the fun), but don’t expect any sly cameos from CM this time around, as Feige has revealed, “it didn’t feel like the time”.

While the superhero has her first solo film scheduled for November 2018, 'Captain Marvel' WAS originally set to appear briefly in 'Age of Ultron' towards the end of the film but was cut for a solid reason: the character hasn’t been cast yet.

Feige explained: “We didn’t want to introduce her fully formed, flying in a costume before you knew who she was or how she came to be.”

As for now, Feige has said the studio is more focused on finding the writers for the 'Captain Marvel' film, “and we’re very close”. And as for the casting process? It’s in its “very early days”.

'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' hits cinemas 23rd April 2015.
