While it remains to be seen how Marvel will deal with the events of Infinity War’s finale, the rumour mill has seemingly confirmed the return of two characters from the wider MCU, who will be making their way back for Avengers 4. Needless to say, spoilers to follow…

First up is Frank Grillo’s Crossbones, last seen meeting a sticky end in Captain America: Civil War. According to Grillo he’ll be making a reappearance, albeit in flashback form, before saying farewell to the franchise for good. “I’m allowed to say whatever I want because I’m never doing another Marvel movie,” confirmed the star. “Because I’m 117 years old.”

Perhaps more intriguing is the news that Tilda Swinton’s character, The Ancient One, will also be popping in for an appearance. This little tidbit comes courtesy of executive producer Michael Grillo (no relation to Frank), who confirmed Swinton’s involvement at the Austin Film Festival, revealing she shot for a day on the upcoming sequel.

The Ancient One was killed off at the end of Doctor Strange, but with all her capacity for time / space manipulation, it should be a moderately easy task to write her back in. Assuming of course this isn’t another flashback…
