Avicii - 'True' First Listen!
See what we thought of the super Swede's debut LP right here...
Swedish DJ and producer, Avicii - debuts his first ever album Nile Rodgersworked with Tim and Adam Lambert on Lay Me Down in which the Good Times legend's distinctive sound can't be mistaken. Other contributors include Aloe Blacc, Joakim Berg, Audra Mae and Incubus’ Mike Einziger.
Hey Brother - the third song on the tracklist - is another country hit that meets with sounds straight from the Vegas dance floor and what could be his next No.1 should he choose to release it.
Shame On Me and the aforementioned Lay Me Down are a mixture of blues, soul and reggae with the super Swede's signature prog house beats. Who would have thought Blues and EDM could ever work but on this album, they do and quite well.
The final track on the LP seems the most daring, an instrumental combination of EDM, country and classical with the frenetic sounds of cellos and violins accompaning Avicii's mainroom sound.
The contrast of the classical sounds of the past and modern day electric music is bizarrely catchy, pleasant and nostalgic.
Avicii has taken the greatest chance in music history. He took popular country tunes, the tone fully fantastic classical, downbeat blues and more diverse genres and created what we believe will be the biggest EDM album of the year.
