And I'm caught in the middle
I caught the edge of a knife
And it hurts just a little
And I know, and I know, and I know
And I know that I can't be your friend
It's my head or my heart
And I'm caught in the middle
My hands are tied, but not tight enough
You're the high that I can't give up
Oh lord, here we go
I might hate myself tomorrow
But I'm on my way tonight
At the bottom of a bottle
You're the poison in the wine
And I know
I can't change you, and I
I won't change
I might hate myself tomorrow
But I'm on my way tonight
Let's be lonely together
A little less lonely together
Eyes wide shut and it feels like the first time (Oh)
Before the rush to my blood
Was too much and we flatlined (Oh)
And I know, and I know, and I know
And I know just how this ends
Now I'm all messed up
And it feels like the first time (Oh)
I might hate myself tomorrow
But I'm on my way tonight
At the bottom of a bottle
You're the poison in the wine
And I know
I can't change you, and I
I won't change
I might hate myself tomorrow
But I'm on my way tonight
Let's be lonely together
A little less lonely together
Let's be lonely together
A little less lonely together
My hands are tied, but not tight enough
You're the high that I can't give up
Oh lord, here we go
I might hate myself tomorrow
But I'm on my way tonight
At the bottom of a bottle
You're the poison in the wine
And I know
I can't change you, and I
I won't change
I might hate myself tomorrow
But I'm on my way tonight
Let's be lonely together
A little less lonely together
Let's be lonely together
(Let's be lonely lonely now)
(Let's be lonely lonely now)
A little less lonely together
A little less lonely now
A little less lonely now
A little less lonely now
Bergling had released his first taste of brand new music back in August 2017, his AVīCI (01) EP, which featured collaborations with Rita Ora, AlunaGeorge and more. He had stated in an interview with Pete Tong that it would be the first of three.
In a recent interview with Variety, Geffen Records president Neil Jacobson, who started working with Avicii from the release of 'Levels', described the producer as a "good, kind kid" and revealed their plans for his new music.
"We were working on it and it was his best music in years, honestly," he said, "and I know because I [A&R’d] all of his albums. He was so inspired. He was so psyched."
In regards to who might have featured on the new songs, Jacobson said: "There’s a few. I’d rather not say who. Tim had a list of people he was hoping we could reach out to for this album. That was actually the last communication I had from him two days ago, and that’s haunting."
Avicii was found dead in Oman, aged 28 on 20th April. A second statement from his family released last month implied that Bergling may have taken his own life.
The statement told how Bergling "struggled with thoughts on meaning, life, happiness" and added:
"Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.
"He wanted to find peace."
RIP Avicii.
