Avril Lavigne For American Idol

Avril Lavigne is the latest star reportedly set to fill Paula Abdul’s shoes on American Idol.

 

EW.com reports that the Girlfriend singer will help out Simon, Kara and Randy when the hopefuls hit LA.

 

Already confirmed for the judges’ chair are Katy Perry, Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige.

 

Shania Twain and Joe Jonas will also guest on the new series- which doesn’t hit US screens till 2010.

 

Abdul left the show last month after an alleged row over money. However she recently defended herself in a magazine interview, explaining:

 

“I stand on principle where many people stand on money… I’m a hard-working artist. I’ve lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can’t do that unless you are good at what you do.”
