This morning, something truly incredible happened. Usually, in the intros for What You Missed In Music, we give a quick round-up before heading into more detail. This week, we’re changing thatbecause an event of such epic, world-changing proportions occurred this morning. Just look at the heading below:

Avril Lavigne asks Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg to stop bullying Nickelback

Before we say anything, here is the already canonical post:

Where do we start with this? 'Where do we start.'How about those anti bullyingtags?Just when you thought you’d seen enough elections swing the way nobody expected. Just when you thought you’d seen enough surprises. Just when you thought you’d seen it all: Avril Lavigne, former spouse of Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, tells Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg to stop bullying Nickelback. 'Isn't life beautiful.'

Some actual information: this was in response to Zuckerberg’s tongue-in-cheek admission that his home AI, Jarvis, is programmed not to play Nickelback.

Speaking of which…

Mark Zuckerberg installs AI in his home to belt out Red Hot Chili Peppers songs

Another headline nobody expected. Mark Zuckerberg, unofficial overlord of Planet Earth, has developed an artificial intelligence that helps him run his own home called Jarvis, named after the AI from the Iron Man films.

Jarvis controls various elements in his home, including lights, temperature, appliances, music and security. It also helps Zuckerberg belt out Red Hot Chili Peppers songs.

In a blog post penned by Zuckerberg, he revealed that the RHCP’s songs played in his house, which included ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Dani California’, ‘Under The Bridge’ and recent single ‘Dark Necessities’.

As Zuckerberg notes, programming AI to play the right kind of music is a complex challenge. “At this point, I mostly just ask Jarvis to ‘play me some music’ and by looking at my past listening patterns, it mostly nails something I’d want to hear.”
