Axwell Λ Ingrosso Are Back And It's Going To Be "F**king Amazing"
The Swedish superstars are planning an epic night at Alexandra Palace and they draw blood in their brand new music videos, but did they land any real punches?
The world wept when Swedish House Mafia said their final farewell after signing off with an epic global tour but we weren’t left sobbing for too long when Axwell Λ Ingrosso was born.
Mere months after the final curtain was called on SHM in March 2013, a residency that summer called Departures at Ushuaia, Ibiza hailed a new dawn for Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso and in 2014 it was official, they were back and embarking on brand new music.
‘Something New’ was the first official single from the pair and this week they’re dropping two great music videos for new tunes ‘On My Way’ and ‘Can’t Hold Us Down’ directed by Christian Larson, who also shot their (awesome) Leave The World Behind documentary.
We called Axwell to talk life after Swedish House Mafia, returning to Alexandra Palace and releasing his first ever artist album...but first let’s talk about those fight scenes in ‘On My Way’...
Dust off and try again
Straight out of lions den
Strong as a thousand man
That's what I've been told
Since I was six years old
Duck down and count to ten
I'm gonna hit the Lotto
I'm gonna place my bet on every step I take
Go tell everyone under the sun
I'm on my way
And if I hit rock bottom
I'm gonna smile and dance with every step I take
Go tell everyone under the sun
I'm on my way
On my way
Way, way, way
Way, way, way
(On my way), way, way, way
On, on, on my way
I'm on my way
On my way
I'm on my way
On my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
I'm on my way
On my way
Go throw the key away
No matter what they say
All for a better day
You will always be the same
That's what I've been told
Since I was six years old
Duck down and count to ten
I'm gonna hit the Lotto
I'm gonna place my bet on every step I take
Go tell everyone under the sun
I'm on my way
And If I hit rock bottom
I'm gonna smile and dance with every step I take
Go tell everyone under the sun
I'm on my way
On my way
Way, way, way
Way, way, way
Way, way, way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
I'm on my way
On my way
I'm on my way
On my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
I'm on my way
On my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
On, on, on my way
"We had to practice with a 'ninja' for two days in Ibiza," he revealed, "so he taught us how to fake it properly which was actually harder - to fake it than to punch in reality - so that was pretty difficult and we hit each other accidentally a couple of times. My shoulder is still sore from landing on the floor in the end there!"
Both tracks will likely feature on their forthcoming album which is a “big deal” for the pair considering, even though SHM released two album ‘collections’, this will be Axwell and Seb’s first artist album.
“It’s a big deal for us because the whole thing with Swedish House Mafia was so big and we did an album [but] none of us made an [artist] album before as well so it was like a big commitment from our side,” he told us.

I'm knocking ten feet off the ground
Everytime that you're around.

On this new project he added: “We felt like ‘listen, we can’t live our lives without making an album, we need to make an album’ because we want to have a lot of music out because it’s so easy to tour all the time and make the occasional track, but we felt we wanted to give the people that like us, our fans, we wanted to give them an album of indulging in us and what we have to say, so it was really important for us to start the album...it’s been taking up a lot of our time…all of our time!”
After setting alight (literally) the MTV Stage at V Festival stage last year Axwell also beamed about returning their live show to London's Alexandra Palace for their gig in June.
“Yeah goddamit the fires! Yeah it’s gonna be so fun. We haven’t been there for such a long time and we have a really nice connection with the UK crowd, it’s gonna be so much fun.”
He also teased: “My plan is to play a specific track made for that night. I have an idea of one thing that I’ve been working on for a long time and I feel like the time is right for that.
“It’s very UK focused but apart from that we don’t need to have anything up our sleeves because it’s just going to be f**king amazing anyway to just go there , play music to the crowd and we’ll have a good time.”
And how has it been moving forward with the music and live shows for AΛI minus Steve Angello being on board?
“It’s not a big difference with two actually. I guess there’s more coordination and more organisation the more people you are but it’s not a big difference.
“Hopefully we’ll just have a better mode and hopefully we’ve learned a lot from everything and we’ll have that in the backbone – the thing is we always want to do better all the time and hopefully that will show.”
Axwell Λ Ingrosso 'On My Way' is available to pre-order now on iTunes.
