Slumdog & Winslet Win BAFTAs

Kate, Mickey Rourke and Slumdog Millionaire clean up at the sparkling ceremony

Kate Winslet won Best Actress for her role in The Reader at the BAFTA awards last night.

Mickey Rourke won the Best Actor statue at the London ceremony while Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up in other categories.

The Danny Boyle directed flick won seven awards including Best Film.

The late Heath Ledger was named Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the joker in The Dark Knight.

Gorgeous Penelope Cruz picked up Best Supporting Actress for her role in Woody Allen's Vicky Christina Barcelona.

In a hilarious speech Rourke admitted he'd made mistakes in the past: "It's such a pleasure to be back here, out of the darkness."

Winslet dedicated her own award to the two producers of the The Reader - Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella.
