Looking to jumpstart the blockbuster season a bit earlier than normal, Warner Bros. has moved up their comic book tentpole Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from May 2016 to March 2016.
The studio also announced dates for nine untitled DC Comics projects, competing directly with the ambitious release plan set by their arch-competitor Marvel. The move from May was predicted, given that Marvel had scheduled Captain America 3 for release the same day.
Batman V. Superman brings together two of fandom’s biggest superheroes for an ultimate showdown.
Badass Digest posted alleged details from the movie's story on their website, writing: "My sources indicate that when BvS opens Batman has existed for close to 30 years, which would place Wayne in his 50s (which is why I expected more grey in Affleck's hair).
"In this version Batman is still an urban legend, a creature of the night, and no one has ever taken his picture. But he's had plenty of adventures, and the Batcave includes a memorial centered around a tattered Robin costume."
A video has also leaked, showing Affleck filming a scene as Bruce Wayne, with the source adding: "Several Bruce Wayne stand-in’s and stunt doubles were on set today. You can see them blocking out a scene involving the rescue of a small girl and the collapsing of a large piece of the Wayne Financial building.
"Based on city buses and police cars, this is presumed to be in Metropolis, not Gotham. I don’t know that any of these are Ben Affleck himself, but you can be the judge. Probably him in the first sequence, but definitely not the later ones. At the very least, it’s Bruce Wayne.”
Meanwhile, the nine additional DC movies are thought to be a mix of sequels, spin-offs and original projects.Wonder Woman, who appears in Batman V. Superman and is played by Gal Gadot, is widely thought to get her own standalone movie. Other characters such as Aquaman have been rumoured for the big-screen as well.
DC is also expected to announce a Justice League crossover film, to directly compete with the billion-dollar Avengers.
