The Dark Knight Premieres
Stars pay tribute to Heath Ledger at the world premiere of the new Batman film
The Dark Knight had its World Premiere in New York last night with stars paying tribute to the late Heath Ledger.
Ledger- who died of an accidental drugs overdose in January- stars in the Batman film as The Joker and has received rave reviews for the performance.
Christian Bale- who plays the caped crusader, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman all attended the NY event. Bale told reporters about Heath:
"It is tragic he is not here, but I am here to see his talents and celebrate it and I hope everybody will.
He's created this anarchic, Sid Vicious-like, punk rock Joker. I think it's a real classic portrayal that will be remembered for ages."
Director Christopher Nolan and Ledgers father also attended the premiere.
