This Will Be Nolan's Last Batman, Says His Wife
Wife of Batman director Christopher Nolan on why he'll never do another...
Director Batman movie, according to his wife.
Emma Thomas, who is also the director's producing partner, asserts that there is zero possibility of him returning to the franchise after The Dark Knight Rises.
Thomas made the comments to SFX. She was asked if her husband might direct a fourth Batman film, to which she reportedly replied: “No. Never."
To underline the point, she explained: "No, that's truly a never. I can't imagine a world in which he would ever want to come back.
"At a certain point it's fun to go off and do something different, you know. We've spent almost ten years of our lives making Batman films. He was very excited about this film, and the story that he'd come up with, but I just cannot imagine that he would get that excited about another version of the same thing.
"The great thing about a trilogy is that it feels like you've got a beginning, a middle and an end. It's like an extended version of a regular film. Once you get into a fourth film then it's just episodic, and I just can't see him getting excited about making another film where basically you're just wheeling in different villains."
Earlier this month, we told you how the runtime of the third instalment in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy was 15 minutes short of three hours.
The Dark Knight Rises opens in cinemas July 20.
