EA Confirm Battlefield 4 Is In Development
Beta launch reportedly scheduled for next autumn...
Electronic Arts has confirmed that it is working on a fourth edition of its popularBattlefield game, with a beta launch scheduled for next autumn.
EA let the cat out of the bag by advertising a limited edition version of Medal Of Honor Warfighter, offering "exclusive Battlefield 4 beta access" for gamers who pre-order.
But the company was coy on the subject in a letter it has published to fans of the first-person shooter, promising more details later in the year.
Digital Spy quotes it as reading: "But we're not ready to talk about Battlefield 4 yet - in the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy Battlefield 3 and all the Battlefield 3 Premium content still to come."
And CVG reports that EA was keen to pledge its support for Battlefield 3.
A statement issued to fans of the game via Reddit was quoted: "Just as we've continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, we intend to continue providing the best Battlefield 3 experience we can well into the future and past the release of End Game and Battlefield 4.
"There are several teams at DICE. Starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard to bring you the best expansions we can.
"Your feedback absolutely matters. We will continue to use it to improve BF3 and to make Battlefield 4 even better from day one."
