9 Things We Learned At Beautycon LA

Make-up and life lessons from Chrissy Teigen, Joyce Bonelli and more of your favourite celebs…

Beautycon LA took over the Los Angeles Convention Center this past weekend for two days of celeb-filled panel talks, make-up tutorials and more amazing beauty brand pop-upsthan our bank accounts could handle.

MTV UK were on the pink carpet chatting to all your favourite beauty queens (and kings), and here are nine things we learned in the process…

1. Kylie Jenner’s bestie is open to collaborating on a product

When we asked Anastasia Karanikolaou, aka @stassiebaby, if she would consider a Kylie Cosmetics collab, she answered with a short but sweet, “Sure, we’ll see!” We’ll keep our fingers crossed…

2. Even Chrissy Teigen compares herself to other people

Owen Kolasinski/BFA.com

Chrissy sat down for a chat with presenter Zuri Hall (while husband John Legend watched from the front row) and got every bit as candid as you would expect from the reigning queen of Twitter.

On the topic of body image and airbrushing, the Lip Sync Battle co-host said, “I have seen some Victoria’s Secret Angels in the flesh and I was thrilled to see that somebody had a bruise or a scar, or a stretchmark, it made me really, really happy.

“I think if more and more people showed those kinds of things, that would really help all of us, because we don’t have to pretend that everybody looks like Facetune or everybody looks like… what are the other apps? All of the apps have just ruined our lives! My mom would do it with our baby and our baby looks like a cherub angel.” Luna (and Chrissy) forever <3

3. The mermaid trend isn’t going anywhere

Jennifer Lynn

From Lime Crime’s Mermaids Hi-Lite Glitter-N-Glow palette, to Wet N Wild’s Midnight Mermaid collection which fans could get their hands on first at Beautycon LA, we’re all still going to be shimmering well into autumn/winter 2017. Yay!

4. Neither is charcoal

Jennifer Lynn

So you already love your charcoal face masks, but 95% natural beauty brand Yes To also uses charcoal in its micellar cleansing water, helping to detoxify your skin while removing even the toughest waterproof make-up.

5. Kardashian make-up artist Joyce Bonelli is all about the gloss rn

Owen Kolasinski/BFA.com

“I’m really obsessed with matte everything, but right now I’m really obsessed with Too Faced’s Latex lippies,” Joyce told us. “They’re so shiny and amazing over a matte or another gloss.” *Buys 10*

6. Jaden Smith works pink hair like nobody else

Steve Lucero/BFA.com

Performing at Beautycon LA on Sunday, Jaden’s rose coloured locks made us want to reach for the bottle, ASAP.

7. You can now pick perfume to match your zodiac sign

Jennifer Lynn

Zodica Perfumeryfounder Kristi Moe has created a different fragrance for each of the 12 zodiac signs, all designed to reflect the personality of its wearer – though there are also good reasons to try someone else’s sign scent.

“Even though I’m Cancer, I could wear Aries if I wanted to attract that energetic vibe, and manifest my day through the scent,” Kristi explains. Pretty sure we’ve just found 12 new perfumes we want to test…

8. Frankie Grande loves a full face

Sansho Scott/BFA.com

“Make-up makes me feel confident, so I feel my most confident with a full face, but a lot of people feel most confident with no face and that’s awesome,” said the ever-glam Celebrity Big Brother Star.

9. Beauty is everywhere

We couldn't sum it up better than the Beautycon signs, which read, "We welcome all races, all genders, all countries of origin, all sexual orientations, all religions, all glamazons, all natural beauties, all unicorns." See you next year, Beautycon LA!
