6 Life Saving Tricks To Stop Your Makeup Sweating Off Your Face
'Cos you want your makeup to stay on fleek at Isle Of MTV Malta, don't you?
There's nothing worse than applying a perfect face of makeup, then heading outside and having it sweat off in about five seconds flat.
So if you want to enjoy whatever summer holiday fun you've got lined up this summer without having to give your slap a second thought, check out these sneaky anti-sweat hacks to keep your makeup on fleek from noon until night.
Tip #1 - Use a makeup setting spray to stop your face melting off
A spritz under your makeup before you start and on top once you've finished does exactly what you'd imagine and sets it right in place. Basically it helps your makeup stick to your face and protects it from sweating off too.
Tip #2 - Switch your usual mascara for something waterproof
Not only will it stop you looking like Lauren Conrad post-mascara tear if you decide to throw yourself in the sea, but a waterproof mascara will prevent that awkward smear of black makeup you get between eyelid and eyebrow when it's hot and sweaty out. Ditto water resistant eyeliner.
Tip#3 - Swap your foundation for a tinted moisturiser
The less products you put on your face, the cooler you'll feel. Instead of a heavy foundation that's more prone to sweat off anyway, use something lighter like a tinted moisturiser. You'll still get coverage but it'll let your skin soak up that vitamin D - just make sure it has broad spectrum sun protection or that you use a sun cream under your makeup first.
Tip #4 - Use a primer to stop that shiny face feeling
Primer is purpose made to help your makeup last for longer. Not only does it create a protective barrier between face and makeup which can stop breakouts (something exacerbated by hot sweaty pores) but it will help stop you getting a shiny face later in the day when you've had your face on a while. If a shiny face is your nemesis, using a mattifying product under your makeup can also help limit this.
Tip #5 - Instead of powder based products, use cream formulas
While powders tend to make your face look cakey when sweat gets mixed in there, cream products will be kinder. Switch them up for the summer months and we guarantee your makeup will look way more natural.
Tip #6 - Stick a facial mist spray in your pocket
The cooler your face feels, the longer your makeup will stay in place. While you don't want to chuck a cup of water in your face, a facial misting spray is the perfect thing to spritz over your face to cool you down. It's light enough not to displace your makeup but will instantly cool things down too.
