Forget leaving carrots out for Rudolph and a brandy out for Santa as this year beauty afficionados are showing their love for Christmas with a rather festive makeup look.

Simple but in no way understated, it's called candy cane eyeliner because, well, it looks like a tiny candy cane resting above your eyeballs.

You're going to need a steady hand to perfect this look and from the looks of things, beauty bloggers are starting by applying a perfect white eyeliner flick to the lid of the eye.

Once that's done, use a precision brush to add teeny red stripes to imitate the look of the candy cane.

If you're a perfectionist, you can then add glitter to the white parts of the design and apply loads of mascara to amp up the drama of your Christmas-worthy look.

It's all very Mrs Claus chic and will match a slick of red lipstick perfectly.
