8 LFW Makeup Looks Guaranteed To Be Instant Instagram Beauty Trends
The makeup looks we're all gonna be rocking this season.
London Fashion Week might technically be all about designers showing off their next season collections, but it’s also the perfect place for the makeup teams working behind the scenes to pioneer the biggest new beauty trends we are all guaranteed to be wearing come springtime.
The SS17 shows this week were no exception and if you want a heads up on the hair and makeup looks that are immediate Instagram trends in the making, here’s our pick of the ones to try now.
Spaghetti lips
If you still have issues applying lipstick without getting in all over your chops then you're in luck as a smudgy red lip was the star of the show at Mother of Pearl. Created by Ciara O’Shar for MAC, the idea is to look like you dgaf about all the smooching/spaghetti eating you’ve been doing. There was a similar vibe at Molly Goddard, with smudge, high-gloss ‘bitten ice lolly’ lips taking centre stage.
Tbt hair
Channel your teenage self with the playful hair styling trends coming out of the shows. Our faves include teeny tiny beaded plaits at Fyodor Golan and the old-school barrettes at Ashley Williams. Plus the shots of neon colour at Ryan Lo and the super fun bubble hair ponytails at Molly Goddard, both created by Alex Brownsell at BLEACH London.
Woke up like dis
The natural, slept-in vibe is all over the catwalks this season. Think untouched, matte skin with dewy cheeks, just a touch of smudgy eyeliner worn in the waterline and soft pinks and browns smoked out into the eyelids. For inspo check out the looks at J.W. Anderson, Burberry and the outdoorsy chic Isamaya Ffrench put together at House of Holland. If you want something a touch grungier, Topshop Unique is the place to look.
You’ve been tangoed
Orange is officially the colour to get on board with next Spring, be it on your lips like the jolts of colour at Versus Versace, washed through the hair like the acid brights at Ryan Lo or even on the eyes and cheeks, like the next-level strobing used to create a real life sunset glow at Fashion East.
Mermaid glow
Strobing could not be bigger right now and the glowy skin trend has just hit a whole new level thanks to the subtly illuminated but moisture-infused skin on the catwalks. If you like it natural, the romantic, pinky-hued radiance at Emilia Wickstead is for you, or take it even further with the ethereal and almost wet-look mermaid skin NARS put together for Erdem.
Painted faces
From the floral creations at Preen to the metallic brows at Fashion East and the colour washed faces inspired by traditional Indian designs at Ashish, SS17 is guaranteed to see the most experimental among us using our makeup and delicate embellishments to create intricate designs on our bodies and faces.
Glossy lids and lips
There’s nothing Instagram likes more than a punchy look and the glossy lids and matching neutral lips at Mimi Wade are definitely that. Even better, they couldn’t be easier to put together and give a fashion forward look without looking like you’ve tried to hard either.
Unfinished hair
Think half unpicked plaits like those at Emilia Wickstead, or a choppy microfringe like the punky styling at House of Holland.
