12 Easy Peasy Hacks For Upping The Volume On Your Hair

Big hair, definitely care.

As all us guys and gals with fine hair will know, limp locks are a constant struggle. But there's no need to live with that flat hair feeling as these 12 hacks will turn yoursinto a swooshy cloud worthy of a Victoria's Secret Angel in about five seconds flat.

1. Revive your 90s love of hair mousse

Hair mousse might conjure up memories of crispy high-school ponytails, but the 2016 good stuff is literally any fine haired gals best friend. Apply a small amount to wet hair, brush through and dry with a round barrelled brush for seriously sky-high volume.

2. Always carry dry shampoo

Another must-have for fine hair is a can of trusty dry shampoo. Opt for a thickening formula like Batiste Dry Shampoo Heavenly Volume if you want mega volume and hold. Spritz in your roots and massage with your fingertips.

3. Stimulate hair growth with head massages

One of the best and ways to up your hair's natural volume is to dedicate 3 mins in each shower to give yourself a proper, thorough head massage. The added pressure stimulates blood flow to your hair follicles, making your hair grow thicker and faster.

4. Add ompfh to your ponytail with a hair grip

So sneaky but so easy.

5. Embrace the hair flip

Add tonnes of volume and texture in seconds by simply flipping your parting over to the side. Hello beachy, Gigi Hadid-esque hair.

6. Give your ballerina bun huge heights by using a SOCK

Works like a charm.

7. If you don't fancy DIY-ing it with one of your old socks, you could always just invest in a hair donut.

It does pretty much the same thing.

8. Embrace the curls

Wearing your hair curly aaalways adds way more volume and texture than poker-straight locks. Embrace your hair's natural texture, or create some curls yourself with a wand.

9. Pancake your plaits

Add instant volume to braids by using the 'pancake' technique. Simply braid hair as normal and then gently pull apart each section of the plait to create extra volume.

10. Use a coloured hair powder

Overloading hair with baby powder can definitely up the volume – but it'll also leave your locks with a slightly grey tinge. Invest in a coloured hair powder, that'll increase hair volume injecting a hit of texture and oompfh.

11. Add extra volume with a half-up hairstyle

Sneaky.

12. Grab the rollers

There's a reason why these bad boys have been around for YEARS and hardly changed a bit. They really do work. If you're a roller novice, stick to the velcro kind – but if you're a bit of a pro, you might wanna try out the heated kind.
