Ever wondered how to get your hair to look a little bit more like Harry Styles'? Or just how Dougie Poynter does that perfect just-got-out-of-bed rocker hair?
Well wonder no more as we've rounded up our fave celeb guy styles of 2016 so far complete with the secrets of how to master their looks for yourselves.
Austin has the ULTIMATE Calfornia skater hair going on right now. For that long beachy ombre of his, BLEACH do an awesome home dip dye kit (and yes, guys can and totally should use this too) – just remember to keep the bleach on for the minimum developing time if you want to keep it subtle.
For a gloss like Austin’s hair, you’ll need to give those bleached ends a deep moisturise using a product like the Bumble and Bumble Quenching masque once a week. To get that just got out of the sea texture, finish with a big spritz of Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Infusion Spray before messing from the roots using your fingertips.
Before he got it cut (sacre bleu!) it went without saying that Harry had the longest and glossiest hair in all of the land. To style your hair like his, you need some seriously conditioning shampoo and conditioner for curly hair (we like the John Frieda Dream Curls range).
Natural grease will help you slick your hair back like Haz’s, but failing that a product like the L’Oreal Studio Pro Curve It Curl Mousse will define curls at the tip and gently hold the style in place at the root.
For Dylan’s 90s throwback look, you need to go big on the grease. This will work best with naturally oily hair or if you’ve just washed your hair then fake it with something like the Ponsonby Triumph & Disaster Pomade (available from the Fat Buddha store)
It gives a high shine finish but will also give you the flexibility to mould strands into shape.
Lucky Blue Smith and Anwar Hadid
Lucky Blue’s slicked back rocker hair is all about the wet look. To nail this one, comb a load of a gel product like the L’Oreal Paris Studio Line Invisi’Hold into damp but NOT dripping wet hair. Keep adding product and comb straight back leaving what would be your quaff combed in a curl to one side.
Anwar’s hair is perfect for anyone with naturally wavy or curly hair. Apply Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Foam Spray to damp hair before blow drying using a round brush. It’s part mousse and part salt spray (but less gritty) so will give you beachy texture with that shiny heat-styled finish.
Style the body of the hair with a moulding product like Fudge Urban’s Rocker Wax as it has a slightly matte finish and is re-workable so has a natural look to it.
Harry Shum Jr
For this swept up look, you need to volumise with a mattifying product that won’t give a greasy look.
A coloured hair powder will help volumise from the roots and a small amount of a product like the Mitch Material Reformer Texturizer is perfect for a strong hold with a matte, non-greasy finish.
For Cam’s messy bedhead you need something that’s going to give you big volume but also a strong hold. Start the look with a quick blast of the hair dryer on your roots while holding your hair upside down. Then use some Toni & Guy Sculpting Powder at the roots using your fingers and mould the shape you want.
To hold the look in place, fix with the Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play hairspray, which is formulated to volumise.
Obviously JB’s current close cut doesn’t need much in the way of styling, but if you do have an extreme bleached look like this, you can make it last longer using a coloured hair powder on the roots.
It’ll put a little texture into the hair and a white powder like this by Bumble and Bumble will hide dark roots too.
Ansel’s new short hair has a prep school feel to it that we’re loving. Even better, you can basically just let your hair do it’s thing for this look; let it dry naturally then use a sparing amount of a product like the Native Moulding Clay (available here) to give a bit of shape and definition to your tips.
A dollop of Bumble and Bumble’s Curl Defining Crème on your damp curly ends will also make them look da bomb diggity.
Mr Malik’s hair might look understated but don’t let that fool you; it’s artfully styled.
The L’Oreal Studio Line Rework Architect Wax will work on damp or on dry hair and is really mouldable, which means you can really contour and define delicate shape. It’s also got a bit of shine, just like Zayn has on his hair.
Big beachy volume is key for Dougie’s rocker locks. Roughly blow drying upside down until the hair is still just damp will help lock in volume at the roots. Then you want to douse your hair in a salt spray to create texture to help make a base on which you can style. Using a round brush with a hair dryer to will help create more volume and set hair to one side, all the while getting rid of the excess moisture from the sea spray.
Finish by twirling strands with your fingers to create those messy flyaway curls of Dougie’s. Finish with a bit of mousse or hair spray to hold it you want.
