Kat Von D Has A Very Public Friendship Breakup With Jefree Star On Twitter
Major drama in the land of beauty after YouTubers and makeup brand owners Kat Von D and Jeffree Star have a very public friendship breakup on Twitter.
They might once have been best buddies, but tattoo artist turned makeup tycoon Kat Von D just had a very public friendship breakup with beauty vlogger Jeffree Star.
In what has become the second messiest celeb feud of the week (well, nothing can compete with Kim Kardashian vs Taylor Swift, can it?), she took to the internet to publicly denounce Jeffree over claims of rudeness, bullying and stolen artwork.
As anyone who's ever broken up with a bestie will know, friendship breakups are often even worse than those with a boyfriend or girlfriend and it sounds like it was a tough decision for Kat. But after helping Jeffree launch his own makeup business, she claims he has 'changed' and is no longer the person she was once proud to call a friend.
It started when Kat posted a pic with Jeffree's face crossed out along with a big explanation of her feelings.
"After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree's inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events," she writes. "I know that over the years, many of you were introduced to Jeffree through me, and regardless if you chose to continue to follow him or not, I just would like to disassociate myself from him and his brand from this point on.
"I plan on posting a video explanation as to why I felt compelled to make such a statement. But for the time being, I simply want to apologize to anybody and everybody who has ever had to deal with any of his negativity. And yes, with a heavy heart, I will be pulling the shade "Jeffree" from my collection. Sending extra love to everyone out there."
Clearly Jeffree saw this and was not impressed by what Kat had to say. He then took to Twitter to call her out with a series of posts claiming she has ignored him and accused him of things that aren't true.
Kat then posted her video response - called 'Jeffree Star: it's so much easier to do the right thing' to the whole episode, going into way more detail about her side of the story. In the vid, she claims that the main incident that changed the way she saw the blogger was after a friend she recommended to Jeffree designed the artwork for his beauty collection. According to Kat, Jeffree took the logo and never paid the main for his work although Jeffree disputes this claim.
When she asked Jeffree about it, she says he flipped out and blocked her and the illustrator's numbers.
She also calls him out for his ethics and for 'bullying' of other, smaller brands in a way she thinks is totally unncessary, particularly noting the way she sees him as getting his fans to join in on directing negativity to people he is feuding with on the internet. She also apologises to her fans and any brands that her influence has caused to work with or support him.
"The Jeffree that he is now is like this big, attention-seeking, fame-desiring, money-driven monster that I want no part of," she says.
Jeffree is yet to respond with his side of things, but promises a video and that there are 'two sides to every story.'
Basically MAJOR. DRAMA. in the land of beauty - espcially after Kat responded with this:
