The World's First Colour-Changing Hair Dye Is Finally A Reality
Colour-changing hair has arrived.
If you're one dye-job away from turning your hair into actual straw, you'll be pleased to hear that there's a way to have every colour under the sun without destroying your locks forevermore.
A new formula has been discovered by data visualisation scientist - and self-proclaimed witch, Lauren Bowker, who's discovered a way for hair-dye to change colour depending on it's surrounding temperature.
Revealing all about her sorcery in an interview with Dazed, Lauren explained that there's an exact science between swapping red for blue hair, and it doesn't involve sitting in a salon wrapped in tin-foil for hours on end.
Explaining the process behind her product, Lauren said: "When heat hits the pigment, or if the cool hits the pigment, it changes the bonds of the chemistry to give you a different color, so it’s like a chemical reaction."
Adding that the specialist dyes refract light, she said: "If you have red hair and you’re in the wind it might go blue. So what we did was look at data patterns of weathers and the environment in different countries and tailor the color changes to correlate with those."
Even though the product isn't available to buy yet, FIRE will be making it's grand debut at London Fashion Week as part of a collaboration between Storm Models and Lauren's own brand THEUNSEEN.
Until then, have a glimpse at what the invention is capable of. Magic is real.
