This 6-Year-Old Girl’s Incredible Unicorn Hair Has Divided The Internet

WANT.

Lyra, a 6-year-old girl from Florida, is basically living out our childhood dreams of being a unicorn (okay fine, we still dream of this in adulthood too)after her hairstylist mum Mary Thomaston gave her an incredible rainbow-coloured unicorn hair makeover.

Why is this not our hair please?

One word: EPIC.

Explaining how the new ‘do came about, Mary told The Luxury Spot that after her daughter had been asking for unicorn-inspired hair with an undercut ‘for years’, she eventually gavein and letting Lyra have the new lookwhen they had her school’s approval.

Mary said: “I told her if the school gives us permission then I’ll do it, and they allowed it. Her hair is already really light so all I had to do was add the temporary colour. I tried to talk her out of the shaved side because I thought she might regret it once it was done but boy was I wrong. She was sooooo excited.”

As expected, the decision to dye her hair elicited mixed reactions on the internet, with some supporting the creativity whilst others raised concerns about how young Lyra is and the potential toxicity of the dye.

However Mary confirmed that she’d used a non-toxic, non-permanent dye (Manic Panic) on her daughter’s hair.

In response to comments about whether experimenting with hair colours was something that should be left for adults, she said: “Really? Becausewhen you’re a grown up with crazy-coloured hair, people say that such things are for kids.

“It’s a contradiction. I say why not let them have fun while they’re young! Who knows what type of job she may end up with, but a lot of them won’t allow unnatural colours. When you think about it that way, it’s actually the perfect time to let them experiment with colour.”

Critcism aside, we reckon Lyra is totallyrocking her dreamy 'do, and if we're honest, we're really, REALLYjealous.
