Here's How You Can Basically Get Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits For Half The Price
At least according to this beauty blogger.
If you've tried and failed to land a Kylie Jenner Lip Kit in the countless restocks, then there might just be another way to get your hands on one and for half the price too.
While it's not a legit KJ Lip Kit, it is a remarkably similar product, which beauty blogger Stephanie Nicole claims might actually be made using a very similar formula after an extensive bit of investigation.
Posting a video review of Candy K after buying it for a second time, Stephanie noticed some differences between the product she bought in the initial drop and the second product bought in a following drop.
Looking at the ingredients put into making the matte liquid lipstick, she then noticed that the formula is pretty much identical to that used to make American beauty brand ColourPop's Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick.
Here's her comparison of the ingredient list of both products; things highlighted in yellow are identical, things in blue are same ingredients used in a different order and pink denotes identical pigments, just where they have been used in a different order.
But this is where the plot thickens as according to BuzzFeed, both Kylie Jenner Cosmetics and ColourPop are both produced by Seed Beauty at a factory in California. Seed Beauty is also owned by Laura and John Nelson, the people who also happen to be the founders of ColourPop Cosmetics.
Still, Kylie has nodded to this similarity before and posted an Instagram pic months back saying her brand and ColourPop are not using the same formulas.
"Hanging out with the owners at @colourpopcosmetics we don't have the same formula or exact colors but they are my friends and they do have some bomb ass products that I love. Check them out," she said, captioning the post.
It is worth noting that as Stephanie said, the formulas of Kylie's Lip Kits have noticeably changed since then, leaving her to wonder if they are now more like the ColourPop product.
Just look at how the colour of Candy K has changed since Kylie updated the formula to make it more moisturising:
While Stephanie is not saying they are identical, she does want people to know that you can get a very, very similar product to Kylie's Lip Kits elsewhere and interestingly, for a fraction of the price.
Kylie's Lip Kits retail for around the $40 mark - and that's before we get to shipping - while the ColourPop alternative will cost you around $11 for the matte liquid lipstick and matching lip liner.
Interesting, huh? Let us know if you've tried both products and which you'd rate as your fave with a tweet to @MTVStyleIntl.
