Urban Decay Are Discontinuing The Naked Palette
Why do bad things happen to good people?
We are gathered here today to pay tribute to the Naked palette, as in a fairly devastating turn of events, Urban Decay have just announced that they are discontinuing the iconic eyeshadow palette that inspired a cult range of spin-offs and dupes.
It's time to wave a tearful goodbye to Sin, Toasted and more of your favourite smokey, sparkly eye shades because after eight years, the brand have decided to retire it from the collection and will cease selling it later this year.
Announcing the news with a video of an actual funeral they held for it, UD captioned the post: "Today, we mourn our beloved original Naked Palette, a revolutionary product that changed the beauty industry forever 🖤🥀 A little bit naughty, often dramatic, and always in the press, the innovative game-changer and category creator will be laid to rest after 8 years."
With so many celeb fans, the brand even invited along Kandee Johnson, MakeupShayla and Katy from Lustrelux to help commemorate the good times and lay the palette to its final rest.
The good news is that this discontinuation of the Naked 1 doesn't mean the end of the Naked 2 or latest spin-off, the Naked Heat palette, so you will at least still be able to get a slight Naked fix. It also won't disappear from shops immediately and instead UD are offering you the chance to snap up a final Naked palette (or should we say final five?) for a discounted price both online and in store, so GO GO GO if you're keen to get in on the deal.
But for now, let's hear it for the original Naked palette.
You were with us through the good times and you were with us during the slightly more questionable times when we really had no defined understanding of the value of blending out our eye colours, but you will forever be in our hearts nonetheless.
RIP, old friend. You will be missed.
