What Loofahs Are Made From Will Blow Your God Damn Mind
Well, it might do.
Tomorrow morning when you get in the shower, grab your loofah and use it to give yourself a casual scrub down, spare a thought for the humble gourd.
Why? Because that's what your loofah is actually made from.
Yeah we know: it is pretty mind blowing to find out you've been rubbing yourself down with a dried cucumber for all these years without ever knowing it.
If, like us, you've never really given a second thought to what your loofah is made from then perhaps, also like us, you assumed that your natural loofah came from the sea or something.
NOPE - it's the inside of a gourd (you know, those decorative, cucmber-like things Americans always seems to put in bowls around Thanksgiving time), as BuzzFeed News have very helpfully revealed to the world.
You just dry a gourd, peel off the skin like so and VOILA:
Seriously, it's like everything we ever thought we knew is a lie.
