Bebe Rexha Reveals She Fought Off Sexual Harassment During Her Rise To Music Stardom

The In The Name Of Love singer says it's important to call out abuse in the music industry

Bebe Rexha has given a harrowing account of the unwarranted sexual advances she has received while working in the music industry.

The 27-year-old 2016 MTV Europe Music Award host has revealed music executives have made moves on her and offered unrequested massages as she has worked to secure her music career.

Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, she opened up about one particular nauseating moment a music producer tried to seduce her when she was 19.

“He would massage my feet and back and [also] call me and be like: ‘What are you wearing right now?’” she said.

“But [my old team] didn’t care because he was a big producer,” she recounts.

“At one point when I was at the studios, I felt it was very dangerous, ashe was with all of his guys. I told him that he was an a**hole and treating me inappropriately. I was like: ‘F**k you’, called myself a car and just walked out,” she said.

The star has stuck to her guns but says she had feared her career could be at risk if she didn’t go along with things.

“I have gone through situations where guys [that I’ve worked with] have tried to get too close and I did get scared because I thought: ‘F**k I’m going to ruin this [professional] relationship[by turning them down]’,” she says.

Choosing to speak out, she said she supports Kesha - who has an ongoing court battle with Dr Luke involving claims of sexual harassment.

“It’s a hard subject to talk about, but I think she’s a strong woman and I’d love to work with her. I think that the music industry is such an interesting place and there are so many situations that people don’t know about,” Bebe said.
