Becky Hill On The Voice: "You're There For Entertainment Purposes"
'Caution To The Wind' singer reveals she counts her lucky stars following the success she's had since her elimination from the BBC One talent show...
The singer - who was mentored by Jessie J on the first season - is the only contestant from the talent show to score a No.1 single - Gecko (Overdrive) with Oliver Heldens - with Hill telling MTV News she believes it's all down to luck.Speaking to us in Liverpool after her performance at MTV Brand New Liverpool, the 20-year old stated: "There was a lot of talent on that show that should have come out and it's a shame other people, especially on my season, didn't come out and be successful, if not more successful than I am because they all deserved it, they really all deserved it."
Hill went on to address her time on the talent series, explaining that some of her fellow hopefuls were "put off" the industry thanks to The Voice.
She explained: "I think the only reason it's worked out so well for me is The Voice never put me off music, it made me want it more.
"I think for a lot of people, when you're going into a show like that completely blind, you don't realise that they are trying to make an entertainment programme out of you, so whether the music is there or not, you're there for entertainment purposes. "I think that really gives people a false perception of what the music industry is like, for me I wanted to find out more, for a lot of other people it made them go, 'Nah, I'm done. I'm happy to go back to the life I had'. For other people, they tried and things didn't work out for very well for them.
The Caution To The Wind hitmaker concluded: "It's a difficult industry to get into and once your in it, it's even harder to really crack down and work but I've just been lucky, nothing more, nothing less, I've had a lot of luck."
You can catch more from Becky when MTV Brand New Liverpool airs this Saturday at 9pm only on MTV Music.
