Sorry ladies, but it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch is officially off the market!

The Sherlock actor is ENGAGED to girlfriend Sophie Hunter, with his parents choosing a rather traditional way to make the announcement.

His folks decided to post an ad in the Forthcoming Marriages section of The Times newspaper.

[related]It read: "Mr BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."

The 38-year old hunk and Hunter have kept their romance out of the public eye, but were spotted together at a tennis match this summer.

Cumberbatch recently left fans a little hot under the collar after describing how he would play as sex scene as Sherlock, telling ELLE UK: "I would probably watch a lot of porn... I might have to shave, um, areas to fit in with a modern idea of bodily hair.And then I would be devastating.

"I’d knowexactly how to please a woman, I’d know exactly where to put my fingers, where to put my tongue, where to put my – his I should say – his fingers, his tongue. Think about violinists, think about what they can do with their fingers."

He added: "I’d know exactly how to get that person into it, and get pleasure out of making that person feel pleasure to the point that I probably wouldn’t even have to enter… But when I did it would be explosive."
