When Benedict Cumberbatch tied the knot with Sophie Hunter in a Valentine's Day wedding last weekend, there was speculation that his Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman was performing best man duties.

However the true identity of the actor's best man has turned out to be much more interesting than that... daytime TV star Judge Rinder.

Yep, the UK's version of Judge Judy - real name Rob Rinder - is an old mate of The Imitation Game star from their time together at Manchester University - and got Cumberbatch to officiate when he married his boyfriend in Ibiza in 2013.

A source told The Sun: "Benedict had three best men, but only one was famous – and that was Judge Rinder.

"There was speculation that he chose another actor, but he wanted genuine old friends in the role.

"They kept it pretty quiet. They were friends before either found fame."

Rinder's TV show has proved a hit since making its debut last August - and sees the criminal barrister deciding on cases (mostly involving money) in a televised small claims court.
