Bestival Is Leaving The Isle Of Wight For A New Site
Goodbye Robin County Park :(
Bestival have announced that they will be leaving their home on the Isle of Wight in favour of a new site in Dorset. It’s sad news, but at least you won’t have to pay for that ferry anymore. (Unless, of course, you now need to hop on a ferry to get to Dorset.)
The eccentric festival had been taking place at Robin County Park since 2004, and had hosted headliners such as Elton John, Foals and LCD Soundsystem.
Announcing the news on Facebook, festival head honcho and DJ Rob Da Bank said: “Hot off the press – yes Bestival is moving! We can confirm we have submitted a licence application for a new site at the Lulworth Estate in Dorset and we’re super excited about our shiny new Bestival adventure. We have an incredible line-up, headliners confirmed and ridiculous new stages and installations coming your way in 2017.”
Rob added: “We remain fully committed to supporting the Isle of Wight through music, charities and projects and will be giving Islanders an exclusive ticket offer for the new site. Plus we’re working towards a new event for the Island. Watch this space…”
Despite reports of having to downsize the festival and struggles with ticket sales, MTV enjoyed Bestival 2016. Check our review here.
