Beyoncé Partnering With Topshop On Sportswear Brand: This Is Not A Drill!

Beyoncé’s love of Topshop is no secret, but now she’s teamed up with Sir Philip Green’s crown jewel, to form a joint venture company called Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. You know what that means? Beyoncé x Topshop sportswear! Eeek!

Women’s Wear Daily report that the deal is expected to be unveiled in London by Topshop today, Monday 22nd October, after interviewing Sir Philip Green on Sunday.[related]

“This is not a collaboration,” said Green. “This is about building a brand and building a business — a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office.

“Basically, when she was in London in February we arranged to get together. We started talking generally, about doing something together. We’ve been looking at that (athletic) sector for a while. It’s something we need to be in.

“Based on what she does, how she works out, the conversation got into that category. We started getting into proper conversation in May or June, as to how it would work. It took six or eight weeks to put a deal together. On Friday, Beyoncé came to our office for the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle.”

That must have been an exciting end to the week for Arcadia staff! As for what Bey and Topshop’s new company might be called, Green said, “We’ve been brainstorming about the name. We haven’t got there yet.”

With plans to distribute the athletics gear - clothing, footwear and accessories across dance, fitness and sports - in Topshop stores, online at Topshop.com and perhaps even out with at the likes of Nordstrom, this could just be the biggest slice of honey pie Queen Bey’s created yet.
