Queen Bey's Latest Album 'Beyonce' Set For Number One

Who rules the world? Beyonce...

Beyonce’s album is on track for her fifth consecutive number one solo album in the US this week.

In the US alone the record sold 430,000 copies on iTunes within the first day of release.

The former Destiny’s Child singer surprised everyone with the unannounced release of her self-titled album Beyonce last Friday.

The 14-track album also comes with 18 music videos and crashed iTunes as fans raced to buy a copy.

Billboard is reporting that Beyonce will be number one by Wednesday, with over 600,000 copies expected to sell within 4 days. Most albums – and all of Bey’s previous albums – drop on a Tuesday, giving them the maximum window to generate sales before the following chart week.

The last artist to make such an impact on the album charts was in 2012 when Taylor Swift sold 1.2 million copies of Red in its first week of release.

In the UK Beyonce crashed into the chart at number 5 after just 48 hours, with 68,000 copies purchased.
