Big Brother 2014 - The Power Trip Begins
Meet the new housemates and find out what happened on launch night...
The new series of Big Brother has begun - with 10 housemates being introduced to the public.
A Playboy model with a law degree, a bouffant-haired male fashionista, a woman involved in a Wayne Rooney sex scandal and a "Catholic lingerie model" are among the characters who walked the plank into the famous Elstree house.
Show host Emma Willis held court on the catwalk outside the Big Brother house as the new HMs were introduced one-by-one.
And the "power trip" theme of this year's series was quickly established as 49-year-old Pauline Bennett was given the opportunity to punish and reward her fellow contestants.
She chose to award fashion-obsessed Mark Byron a cool £5k because he shares her appreciation of Mariah Carey - and punished metrosexual media graduate Matthew Davies by excluding him from much of the first night fun because she thought he appeared to be intolerant.
"Matthew will get over that," she declared.
The former Kylie Minogue backing singer was told that there was plenty more fun to come and that the following night's show would "change Big Brother forever".
The other HMs are Helen Wood - who was involved in an infamous tabloid scandal involving Wayne Rooney, journalist Christopher Hall, Playboy bunny Kimberly Kisselovich, Essex boy Winston Showan, head-hunter Tamara Stewart-Wood, lingerie model Danielle McMahon and Hertfordshire lad Steven Goode.
