Big Brothercontestant Scott Mason left the house temporarily yesterday to be informed of the death of a loved one.
The 20-year-old student was called to the Diary Room and asked to leave the compound so that the news could be broken to him.
For privacy reasons, it has not been revealed whether the death was of a family member or of a friend.
A statement on the Facebook page for the Channel 5 show read: "Scott has suffered a bereavement of someone close to him. After leaving the House temporarily to receive the news, he has decided to rejoin the House for the time being."
He left the house for approximately 90 minutes before deciding to return.
