CBB Winner Denise Welch Confirms Split From Hubby
Celebrity Big Brother winner Denise Welch has announced live on TV that she has split from hubby, Tim Healy.
The 53-year old, who has been [uuid=87543d15-b524-4075-9b1e-85efcd7e0571]accused of cheating on Healy since her exit from CBB[/uuid], revealed on today's Loose Women (6th February) that her 24-year marriage to the actor has been over for months, breaking down in tears on the chat show.
During her emotional appearance, Welch claimed: "I just want to say, and this is going to be really difficult for me. But the Loose Women audience over the years have given me so much support, as they have to all of us, and so my family made a decision that we would talk about this today.
"Tim and I separated some time ago. And so I'm not having an affair, we've been living our own lives for some time now, but because the press furore – if that's the word – after I came out of Celebrity Big Brother, naively took us by storm. But there's been nothing in the papers that my family didn't know about.
"And I just wanted to say today, to thank everybody for their support. Tim and I feel a sense of relief that we don't have to hide this anymore."
Explaining why she still seemed close to her estranged husband, Welch explained: "We've actually become better friends since we've made the decision. But we wanted to have Christmas with the family without telling anybody.
"We're all just going to move forward as a family. Tim and I are still going to be co-parents and we love each other very much.
"'The kids love us very much and they wanted me to do this today…they wanted me to do this today because if you do it via a newspaper or magazine they can choose their own headlines and put it into the words that they want.
"But they're sick of me being annihilated for something. I'm not having an affair – I'm officially separated. But we do love each other very much so I just want to say thank you."
Denise went on to add that no-one else is involved in the break up, stating: "This is not about anybody else. It has never been – our marriage has never been about anybody else. It's just the fact that we are free to move on should we want to."
Welch's fellow Loose Women co-host Sherrie Hewson went on to praise Welch's decision to speak about the split, saying: "You are very brave and very honest. Well done, over, onwards, upwards. You and Tim are very happy. It's a relief."
