Speidi Explain Celebrity Big Brother 'Clapgate' Incident
Couple insist that they weren't being mean to Claire Richards...
And the US reality TV stars told their fellow housemates that they only refused to help Steps star Claire win the letter because they feared it would lead to them being separated.
According to Digital Spy, Heidi told the HMs: "We thought they would separate us for days and that's why we said no. If they gave us a costume we would have loved to do it and we asked, 'Can't we do anything else like other people have?' and they said 'no'.
"We didn't come on the show to be apart - it could have gone on for days like the basement."
And Spencer chipped in: "The clap was misinterpreted because everyone was clapping for each team. And then no-one clapped for us."
Before Heidi elaborated: "I didn't mean to and we talked about it before, and we were like, 'Let's not say anything'. Everyone was clapping for everyone and I felt really proud that we didn't get separated for days so I did a quick clap. And Spencer felt bad, so he clapped and tried to cover for me.
"It's totally my fault, I didn't mean to clap. I just thought, 'At least we were fighting for our marriage' and clapped and then they said, 'Claire's not getting her letter' right when I did that."
Their explanation appeared to clear the air, with Rylan Clark saying it "makes so much sense now".
Meanwhile notoriously argumentative former housemate Jasmine Lennard - who appeared in the last series of the show - has taken a swipe at Rylan.
She tweeted: "There have been moments where i've found him funny or endearing. I think he has a nasty steak though."
We think she meant to type "streak".
And she claimed that his secret trips from the house to take part in The X Factor tour rehearsals were not fair.
"Regardless he has cheated, broken the rules and been given a totally unfair advantage.
"He should be removed from the final vote. It's just not fair on the other housemates who have played the game honestly. #justmyopinon #cbb."
