Ron Atkinson, Courtney Stodden and Carol McGiffin have all been shortlisted to face the public vote in Celebrity Big Brother.

The new series of the reality TV show [uuid=5659166d-c888-4cad-b7fd-0faa70663310]started last night on Channel 5[/uuid] - and saw Louie Spence, Lauren Harries and Sophie Anderton squirreled away in a secret room to observe the other housemates.

Each of them was told they must nominate one of the HMs to potentially face the public vote - with Louie going first and plumping for former football manager Ron Atkinson because he didn't think they would have "a huge amount in common".

He said: "I don't know much about football. Well, I know a few [footballers] I fancy, but I don't think that will go down too well with him."

Sophie nominated Courtney Stodden because of her "hysterical high-pitched" laugh.

And Lauren chose Carol McGiffin, accusing her of being miserable and hinting at a past beef.

She said: "We haven't got on together in the past, I don't think we're going to get on in the future."

They will later have to narrow the three down to one between them, who will face the public vote.
