A Big 'American Horror Story' Star Just Joined 'Black Panther'

Another A-lister joins the Marvel universe!

Black Panther continues to add to its seriously heavyweight cast, with Oscar-nominated 'American Horror Story' star Angela Bassett the latest A-lister to join the Marvel family. It looks like she’ll be taking a major role too, with Bassett set to play Ramonda, mother to Chadwick Boseman’s Wakandan leader, T’Challa.

Ramonda is a key player in the Black Panther saga, with the character serving as Queen Mother following the death of her husband in Civil War, and T’Challa’s subsequent coronation as king. Presumably she’ll be on hand to provide some words of wisdom, while the new ruler takes on the serious business of kicking ass.

Bassett will line-up alongside Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira, who will be playing T’Challa’s bodyguards, and Michael B. Jordan, who plays bad guy Erik Killmonger (props for the most villainous name in the MCU). Forest Whitaker will also appear as elder statesman Zuri, while rumour has it that Sebastian Stan will pop up again as the Winter Soldier.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and co-starring Winston Duke and Florence Kasumba, Black Panther will open in the UK on 6 July 2018.
