The Blade Runner 2049 Exhibition In Paris Was Every Fan’s Dream

And we were lucky enough to be there for it…

Over the weekend the Grand Rex Theatre in Paris played host to a special screening of the new Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford epic, Blade Runner 2049.

Celebrating the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the movie, fans flocked from all over the city to attend this exciting event, with some surprises thrown in too.

As well as getting to see the critically acclaimed blockbuster in one of Paris’ fanciest cinemas, fans also got access to an exclusive exhibition featuring props, costumes and the ACTUAL car (The Spinner) from the movie.

We were lucky enough to get an exclusive first look at the exhibition, and if you’re a super fan of the film like us, you would have been geeking out too. Expanding over three stories the exhibition had some amazing things on display such as K’s trench coat - yes, that’s right, we saw the actual outfit that graced Ryan Gosling’s body while filming.

Alongside this they had outfits from the other main characters including Luv’s infamous white coat (seeing it IRL brought back all the moments in the film of her being the ultimate baddie) and Joi’s kimono style dress.

The main event of the exhibition was the presence of the Spinner car, driven by Ryan Gosling’s character K in the film. Obviously we had to pose in front of the badass vehicle:

Fans could also gain a deeper insight into the making of the film by getting an exclusive look at some of the story boards, fit with scribblings dictating the art direction of the scenes in question.

After exploring the exhibition fans were invited to share their experiences on Twitter, with #BladeRunner2049 trending in Paris! Another perk of this event was getting to see three short films that take place between the 1982 original Blade Runner movie and Blade Runner 2049 on the big screen.

The first, an Anime short created by Shinichiro Wantanabe titled ‘Black Out 2022’, the second ‘2036: Nexus Dawn’ and the third ’2048: Nowhere To Run’, both directed by Luke Scott (Ridley Scott’s son) - watch them all on YouTube here.

After the screening we were invited along to an exclusive Blade Runner 2049 themed club night at the Rex Club, Paris. Surrounded by neon lights and in the presence of two actual Replicants from the movie (as creepy as it sounds!)it truly captured the world of Blade Runner.
