Blur Debut New Song Ahead Of The Brit Awards 2012

As Alex James says their performance is like getting The A-Team back together...

Blur duoDamon Albarn anThe Brit Awards tomorrow (21st February).
Performing at a pre-Brits gig at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire last night (19th February), the pair closed their set with new song Under The Westway.
Speaking of the track, Albarn told those present at the War Child charity concert that it had been: "written up the road from here a few weeks ago" and contained "a lot of words - for me anyway."
The previously unheard tune marks the first new material from the Park Life band since Fools Day in 2010 - which was only released in support of Record Store Day.
In other Blur news, the lads are to perform a 11-minute set at the Brits - the longest by any previous Outstanding Contribution Award winners.
Host James Corden told Xfm: "Blur will perform for 11 minutes at the end of the show - more than anyone has been given before for the '[uuid=8f0829d3-0e6d-4eb2-9cb9-a445fecc4118]Outstanding Contribution To Music Award'[/uuid]."
Band member Alex James has also told The Sun that getting back together with the Brit Pop band for the star-studded bash is like reforming The A-Team for one last job.
Speaking of their Brit Awards stint, James claimed: "There is always a feeling that this may be Blur's last bow, which I suppose makes it all the more exciting.
"We've been asked to perform five songs. I met up with the band last week and we discussed what we will play. I'm more excited about playing a few of the old hits again than winning.
"Winning prizes is nothing compared to the feeling of playing music. Pulling the band back together is like reassembling The A-Team for one last job.
"I'm a cheesemaker now. As much as we loved Blur, if you do anything day in, day out for 15 years, it becomes a job. We all needed to go our separate ways and do other things with our lives.
"Now when we play together, it's for the joy of it, like in our early days."
Blur have already been named as the [uuid=8f0829d3-0e6d-4eb2-9cb9-a445fecc4118]winners of this year's Outstanding Contribution To Music[/uuid] accolade at The Brit Awards 2012, and will take home the prize at London's O2 Arena tomorrow.
