Movie Star Brad Pitt has pledged $5 million dollars of his own money to help rebuild parts of New Orleans that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Mr. Pitt revealed plans to build 150 new houses within the next year at a press conference recently, with an emphasis on developing an affordable design that could be replicated.

Pitt says that its really an adopt-a-house campaign," and has asked anyone who can afford to, including business and church groups, to donate sums towards the $150,000 (72,750) required to create a new family home.

The proposed houses are set to incorporate various environmentally friendly technologies including solar power with the build initially taking place in one of the poorest areas of the city, the Lower Ninth ward.
