Christmas is nearly upon us and we’ve got a great gift for 10 exciting new acts – they’ve been shortlisted in our annual talent search - MTV’s Brand New For 2013 Presented by Emporio Armani Diamonds!
Over the last five years MTV Brand New has spotted upcoming international stars like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey as well as hot UK talent such as Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Delilah and last year’s winner Conor Maynard.
This year’s list was just announced at a gig London’s The Forum headlined by Hot Right Now star DJ Fresh.
Our panel of music experts singled out nine artists/groups who they think will be making waves in 2013… and also announced the winner of our Brand New Unsigned competition who’ll be joining them…Ebony Day!
On being crowned our Unsigned star, Ebony said: “Winning MTV’s Brand New for 2013 Unsigned Competition is a dream come true! I’m so thankful to my fans for getting me here and I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings.”
Disclosure are Guy and Howard Lawrence, two brothers from the UK making house/future music. After their debut single on Moshi-Moshi Records in September 2010, the duo released a 4 track EP on Transparent Records a year after.
Our Unsigned winner Ebony Day lives in Guildford (UK). She is currently studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music. With big hopes and dreams for the future she is working hard at writing original music and developing herself as an artist.
Gabrielle Aplin is a singer from Wiltshire, UK. She was born in Bath, Somerset, and attends the same school that is known for nursing the talents of Jamie Cullum. She is currently the #73 Most Subscribed Musician of all time on YouTube.
Three sisters from Los Angeles. Este, Alana and Danielle Haim, grew up playing covers in a band-Rockinhaim- whose remaining members were their mum and dad. Once the siblings had put that behind them, they began writing their own material.
K Koke is an English Rapper from the notorious Stonebridge estate of northwest London. His first mixtape ‘Pure Koke Volume 1’ was an underground success and has gained considerable critical acclaim within the UK Rap scene.
Growing up in houses just two minutes away from each other in Swords, near Dublin airport, Steve and Mark met aged eight, when they were the only boys in the school choir. Skip forward six years and they recruited Vinny, also situated a stones throw away.
Growing up in legendary Bow, east London’s musical melting pot and surrounded by grime luminaries such as Tinchy Stryder, Dizzee Rascal and Wiley – Rascals have emerged from the underground in the only way they know how; shining like uncut diamonds in chasm of MCs.
