Tom Odell Bags Brits Critics' Choice Award

MTV Brand New For 2013 nominee lands his first big prize...

Singer songwriter Tom Odell has landed the Critics' Choice Award at next year's The Brit Awards.

Along with his nomination for the MTV Brand New For 2013 prize, the Another Love singer was [uuid=b76b2d40-d49d-4ff9-adf1-0ab0bf985f67]shortlisted for the Critics' Choice Award earlier this month[/uuid] - and beat fellow newcomers Laura Mvula and AlunaGeorge to the title.

The prestigious prize is handed to the new artist expected to prove a huge hit in 2013, and is open to up-and-comers who are due to release their debut album next year.

And Tom's in good company, because previous winners include UK superstars like Adele, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding and Emeli Sandé.

Chichester-born Tom will pick up his gong at London's O2 on February 20.

It has also been confirmed that there will be a new accolade being awarded at this year's Brits - the Global Success Award - which will go to the British artist with the highest number of global sales over the previous 12 months.

One Direction, Mumford & Sons and Adele will all be in line for the gong.
