That’s right, we’re back with MTV Brand New For 2014, presented by Emporio Armani Diamonds.
MTV Brand New is our annual guide to the hottest artists for next year. In the past we’ve predicted megastar success for artists including Justin Bieber and Lana Del Rey - as well as UK acts including Tinie Tempah, Adele and Jessie J - long before they hit the big time.
This year our panel of music experts spent months curating a shortlist of acts destined for superstardom and we guarantee you’re going to love the selection, which includes everything from solo artists to bands, pop to rock and, of course, our MTV Brand New Unsigned winner…Marie Naffah!

Elyar Fox sparked attention on the music scene at the age of 16 when he spent his gap year between GCSEs and college hustling for a record deal. As views on his YouTube channel reached tens of millions, Elyar eventually signed with Global Talent, in conjunction with RCA.
The 19 year old singer and songwriter first came to attention when BBC Introducing picked up on a handful of tracks posted online. That led to a live session at their legendary Maida Vale studios and an oversubscribed performance on their stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
20-year-old Joel Compass is a particularly rare talent who delivers on every level. A singularly talented male singer, songwriter and producer who is as visually interesting as he is lyrically and musically arresting, Compass combines an effortless credibility with huge commercial appeal.
Reflecting a mixture of his African roots with RnB & Gospel influences set against a backdrop of electro-synthesized soul; 23-year-old singer-songwriter Kwabs has already begun captivating audiences at his sell out shows across the capital.
This year’s Unsigned winner, Marie Naffah is well acquainted with the singer/songwriter music scene. Often referred to as a perfect blend of Laura Marling and Florence Welch, she has the talent of combining roaring, powerful vocals with mellow guitar riffs and witty wordplay.
Formed at the beginning of 2013, Royal Blood are a 2-piece band from Brighton. Having known each other for years in different bands, Mike Kerr & Ben Thatcher finally came together and went into the studio to record ‘Figure It Out’ – the first track that brought attention to the band.
British singer-songwriter Sam Smith already has a No.1 under his belt after featuring on Naughty Boy’s ‘La La La’. Now the soul man is going solo ahead of his debut album next year…
Four teenage musicians; Bradley, James, Tristan and Connor, hooked up via their homemade demos on YouTube. Their plan: upload a series of covers of chart-conquering pop hits and release an album of their own. 17 million hits and a major label recording deal later, they’re doing just that!
