Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel Will Be A Feminist Role Model
Brie Larson has been talking up her upcoming superhero flick Captain Marvel, and revealed the pressure that goes along with heading up Marvel’s first female-focused movie. And from the sounds of it, the Captain is going to be the MCU’s first feminist icon…
“I feel a great responsibility," said Larson. "I want to create this symbol of strength and humour for women that I really wish I had had growing up. It feels so valuable.”
"We need to break through that glass ceiling — women go to the theatre to see a movie with a male lead, and men will go see a film with a female lead. We're all equals here.”
Yassssss! At the moment, Larson’s casting is pretty much the only thing we know about the production, which still doesn’t have a director attached, but it sounds like the star knows what she wants from the project.
It’s been suggested that Larson might make an early appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, but nothing has been confirmed on that score just yet. In the meantime, we’ll just have to be patient until her solo movie eventually drops on 8 March 2019.
