Britney Spears: "I'm Not That Promiscuous These Days"
Perfume singer let the cameras in for new documentary...
Britney Spearsbares all in a new documentary chronicling the preparation for her upcoming Vegas residency.
“When I first started out I didn't care what anybody thought of me,” the Perfume singer explained in the one-off special, I Am Britney Jean, which aired in the US last night.
"I was happy to be there. I was like, 'This is great!' But then, 10 years later, I realize there's a lot of mean things on the Internet."
Those ‘mean things’ only multiplied during her very public meltdown in 2007, during which time she couldn’t leave the house without being followed by a swarm of paparazzi. “It was a trying time. It was kind of confusing for me,” she recalled.
“Personally, I'm a shy person and I'm particularly not really made for this industry because I am so shy. It's not something I deal with so well."
Even now, the 32-year old still struggles to speak her mind. “I'm not saying it's good to be a bitch, but a lot of times in this industry it's better to speak up and say what's on your mind, which I have a problem with.”
It’s a problem that intensifies when she feels pressurized. “Sometimes I tend to go inward when I'm under pressure,” Britney confessed. “I tend to keep it all in. I don't express myself too much. If I'm really nervous I'm really quiet. But I think I thrive under pressure."
Which is one of the reasons Brit’s enjoying the preparation for her highly anticipated two-year residency, which kicks off this week, admitting she is “going to put my heart and soul into this."
And the fixed location of the show, at Planet Hollyood in Las Vegas, means she can give her young sons - Sean Preston, eight, and Jayden James, seven – some stability. “I figured it'd be a really good place for the children and the family,” she said in the documentary. "It was kind of like an ideal situation."
The presence of her children also means the show - officially titled Britney: Piece of Me - will be at least somewhat more family-friendly than previous tours, in particular what she describes as her “sexy” Hotel Onyx Tour, which took place a year before Sean Preston was born. “I wouldn't be that promiscuous these days,” she added.
