Britney Spears has just released the long-awaited video for new single Perfume.
Britney posted a link to the video with the message “So excited to share the Perfume video premiere with you all” on Twitter.
In the video she frolics with a gorgeous male model who then goes back to his brunette girlfriend while Britney sings into the camera.
The four and a half minute mini-movie required some serious work from Brit Brit, who tweeted over the weekend, “Had to dig deep and really play with some acting chops for this one!”
However fans have complained that the video is a “more simple, watered-down” version of an original first cut and have demanded that a longer version be released.
A petition on iPetitions.com, which has already gathered almost 600 signatures within minutes of the video premiering, asks Britney’s record label, RCA, to “Please release the REAL Original Version of Perfume.”
The vid was directed by Joseph Kahn, the man behind some of her most popular videos including Toxic, Stronger and Womanizer.
Kahn retweeted a link to the petition before writing: “This pretty funny. I'm going to bed. Lemme know if the official cut plays. Hope ya like.”
