Brittany Murphy’s Mother Hits Back at Murder Claim

Brittany died in December 2009 of pneumonia, followed five months later by her husband Simon Monjack, of the same cause. Earlier this month the Clueless actress’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, released a lab report that suggested she could have been killed by ingesting rat poison.

 

However, Brittany’s mother, who says in the letter that she raised Brittany alone, has hit back that Angelo’s claims “are based on the most flimsy of evidence”. 

 

She added that: “Angelo has shown he only wants to trade on Brittany's life, career and good reputation - even at the cost of putting a cloud over her memory” and he released the lab report as a “stunt” for publicity.

 

At the time of Brittany’s death the LA County Coroner concluded that she had died of natural causes. 

 

Brittany’s mother ended her letter by saying, “It is time for those who really knew and loved [Brittany] to put those who want to exploit her on notice: Your lies will no longer be tolerated, and as long as I live will continue to be exposed.”
